Whether you're back in the classroom or continuing to learn online, it's simply the most important piece of tech to help you stay on your game. Problem is, how do you decide what kind of computer is for you? Not only are there varying prices, competing operating systems and countless brands to choose from, but the student – or the parent(s) footing the bill – must decide on an ideal form factor (or type of computer), such as a laptop, desktop, 2-in-1 or all-in-one. And you might think you need a degree in computer science just to understand today's specifications ("specs").

Tesla has recently reintroduced the Enhanced Autopilot option, which is a cheaper alternative to the Full Self-Driving package for existing owners. Apple has released an update for its 27-inch iMac. The new computer is "by far the most powerful and capable iMac ever", Apple claimed, pointing to a range of spec updates. But perhaps the most surprising is the addition of a new 1080p HD camera. The webcams in Apple's computers have received sustained criticism in recent times, particularly as video calls in lockdown have revealed the low quality of the cameras found in even its more expensive Macs. In addition to the extra resolution, Apple said that the new computer will use the T2 security chip to process and improve the image that comes through the webcam. They're now getting other people to unwittingly help them out. "Cryptocurrency mining is on the rise. In fact in just the first eight months of 2017 more computers were infected with malware to mine cryptocurrency than in all of 2016," Raj Samani, chief scientist at McAfee, told The Independent.

Apple is going to release its hugely powerful iMac Pro this week, it has confirmed. The new computer will come out on Thursday, 14 December, according to the company's website. It is the first confirmation or new information about the new desktop since it was unveiled in June. The company still didn't announce how much the iMac Pro – which looks like a normal iMac but comes in a dark grey – will cost, though it said in June that prices start at $4,999. But it did unveil a whole range of market-leading technologies that can be found inside, including an 18-core processor and a powerful Vega graphics chip.
